What Is Offline Mode?

Offline mode is a feature of digital signage software and players that ensures content continues to display even when the internet connection is interrupted. The media player stores a local copy of all assigned content, so screens never go blank.

How It Works

1. When online, the player downloads and caches all content assigned to it (images, videos, web snapshots)
2. If the internet connection drops, the player continues playing from its local cache
3. When the connection is restored, the player syncs any pending updates automatically

Why It Matters

Internet outages happen — Wi-Fi goes down, routers restart, ISPs have issues. Without offline mode, your screens would show error messages or go blank during outages. For businesses that rely on screens for revenue (like digital menu boards) or safety (like emergency alerts), offline reliability is critical.

Limitations

• Dynamic content — live web pages, social feeds, and real-time data cannot update while offline; they show the last cached snapshot
• Storage capacity — the player's local storage limits how much content can be cached
• Initial sync — the player needs to be online at least once to download content
